Physics Olympics

Friday, April 27th, Shafter High seniors went to Bakersfield College and competed in the KHSD Physics Olympics against 17 other schools. We had 8 teams (some of the bigger schools had 50+ teams) and we placed in several events! Only the top 12 places in each event were counted.
Toothpick Spanner – 3rd place – Cassandra Kelly and Andrea Meza
Paper Airplane – 7th place & 12th place – Jose Maldonado, Isaac Nunez, and Benjamin Hunter, & Valente Trujillo, Nallely Hermosillo, and Tiahna Neri
Centripetal Force – 7th place – Noah Camacho, Ezequiel Trujillo, and Saul Cardenas
Fermi Quiz – 7th place – Heriberto Puente, Julian Torres, Diego Moreno
Magnetic Field – 10th and 12th place – Isabel Aguilar and Eloisa Sepulveda, & Heriberto Puente, Julian Torres, and Diego Moreno
The two teams that competed in Egg Drop (Noah, Saul, and Zeke & Nallely, Tiahna, and Valente) successfully protected their eggs with awesome designs!
And last, but definitely not least, we placed 6th in the Super Quiz out of all 18 schools! Our 9 that competed in the Super Quiz were Heriberto, Julian, Ben, Isabel, Sayra, Noah, Isaac, Jose Maldonado, and Saul.
