AP Physics Class competes in the Physics Olympics
Shafter High School’s AP Physics 1 students went to Bakersfield College on Friday, 4/26/2019 for the 31st annual KHSD Physics Olympics. There they competed against 12 other high schools from the Kern High School District in various events testing their physics knowledge and skills.
They placed in 8 events (only the top 12 teams are awarded ribbons):
Arnoldo Bravo, Danny Torres, and Kyler Martinez placed 5th in the Design Challenge, 7th in Trajectory, and 8th in Centripetal Force.
Julia Pitter, Zeb Waterhouse, and Michael Vander Poel placed 12th in Efficiency Bridge.
Ana Torres, Carolina Mora, and Rosalinda Anaya placed 2nd in Spaghetti Cantilever, 3rd in Spring Constant, and 8th in Straw Tower
Ezequiel Mendez, Khata Hussein, and Rolando Robles placed 8th in the Fermi Quiz
In the Super Quiz finale, Shafter tied for 3rd place! The Super Quiz competitors were Alexis Aguilar, Arnoldo Bravo, Daniel Torres, Julia Pitter, Kyler Martinez, Marco Rodriguez, Rolando Robles, Will Waterhouse, and Zeb Waterhouse.
