AP Breakfast

Shafter High held its Third Annual AP Breakfast to kick off the AP Testing season. Shafter Mayor Prout, the Shafter Learning Center , our AP teachers, and 175 students came and enjoyed a delicious breakfast to celebrate the upcoming tests. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Thanks to the Shafter Learning Center for their sponsorship. All tests have been paid for!

Sharaya Durant was "attacked" for being the best football coach Shafter has to offer so far in 2017 with leading the Sr Class to a 30-6 rout of the Jr class.

2017 Migrant Speech

This past weekend, four of our migrant students participated in the 2017 Migrant State Speech and Debate Competition: Jose Bucio (12th grade), Aleyda Camarena (11th grade), Rafael de la Mora (10th grade), and Jesus de la Mora (9th grade). Jose Bucio brought home 3r place in the Spanish Prepared Speech and Aleyda Camarena brought home 2nd place in the Extemporaneous Speech.

Agriculture Scholarships Announced

Last night, Fernando Garcia was awarded a total of $3,000 in agriculture scholarships at the Kern Agriculture Foundation Scholarship Night. Fernando received three scholarships each totaling $1,000. The scholarships he received are the Bakersfield Californian Foundation Agriculture Scholarship, Kern Agriculture Foundation- Chuck Skenfield Agriculture Scholarship, and the Kern County Junior Livestock Auction Committee Agriculture Scholarship. Fernando will be attending CSU Fresno in the fall and is majoring in Agriculture Education. We are very proud of his accomplishments and look forward to what he will accomplish in the future.

"Students preparing for their annual Co-Ed Softball tournament put on by the Kern High School District. The tournament will be at the North Fields by Sam Lynn Ball Park on May 17th and 18th. Go Generals!"
