Coach and Offensive Player of the Year

A big congratulations to Coach Pierrucci and our QB Alex Aguliar for their awards last night. Hometown Sports named Coach Pierrucci “Coach of the Year” and Alex got “Offensive Player of the Year.” Two big awards for two great people. As you can see we had other kids reconized for their efforts too, it was a team effort that helped both achieve these awards.

Coach of the year is a huge honor and well deserved. Not only did the team go 9-3 this year, but:

Averaged over a 3.3 GPA as a team
Conducted community service progects and put in more man hours than can be counted as a team
Won and Lost with class as a team
Built leaders

Shafter High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) competed in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies contest.

More than 50 Shafter High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) members traveled to Independence High School on November 14 to compete in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies contest.

The contest is held every year to introduce students to their first FFA competition, emphasize the purpose of meetings and duties of officers, teach them how to conduct efficient meetings, as well as build public speaking and communication skills.

Shafter had 9 teams compete in this public speaking contest, and had two high individuals and the 2nd place Open gold team. Members of the second place open gold team were Kekoa Witcher, Victoria Darling, Michael Vander Poel, Alexis Pickering, Carolina Ortega, and Julie Portillo. Nallely Hermosillo was the outstanding sentinel in the officer division and Eva Lopez was the outstanding treasurer of the Open Blue Division.
